Picture of Maia - Fall 2019 UAlbany MyStory Volunteer

Hi Guys!

My name is Malaïka, but I’m better known as Maia. My hometown is Spring Valley, NY, right outside of Manhattan. I’m a junior majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry and I’m going to become a doctor (Not sure what specialty yet!). You’ll most likely catch me in the campus center or walking towards the lecture center. I’m in a variety of student organizations, such as NAACP, Stilettos Dance Team, and the National Congress of Black Women. Attending the UAlbany Project MyStory programs and visiting the website will have such a positive impact on your time here! Not only will we provide you with goodies, we will give you information that comes directly from the best source one can find: Students!

The first program is Monday, September 9 at 6:30 p.m, in Science Library Room 340. The topic of the evening: “Adjusting to a New Academic Culture: It’s a Different World.”

Project MyStory Student-to-Student Postcard Back

Established in March 2015, Project MyStory is a community building effort to help students better acclimate to UAlbany and to work more effectively toward their goals. We began in UAlbany’s Academic Support Center (ASC), where you will see many of the posters featured above. We are now co-housed in ASC and in the Center for International Education and Global Strategy (CIEGS).
