Jade and Damien the Dane

Jade and Damien the DaneSpring semester went by so fast. No matter how reluctant I was to leave UAlbany, my exchange study came to an end and I am back in China. Looking back on the four months I was at UAlbany, I somehow feel like I just arrived in the USA yesterday, and now I have to say goodbye. Only by looking at all the pictures in my phone can I make sure that everything I experienced was real and not a dream. I do not think that anyone can imagine how sad and desperate I was when  the airplane took off from the ground  from New York. Even I did not know that I could be so sentimental.  I suppose that it was because I had very good memories from so many first-time experiences at UAlbany and in northeastern USA.  I cannot forget them.

Given this opportunity, I want to thank everyone I met in UAlbany. Thank you, Rachel. you gave me the chance to write and share! Thank you, Professor Mark Hughes, your kind personality influenced me and helped me a lot during the whole semester! Thanks to my classmates in BAP, without you guys, I cannot imagine how less interesting this semester would be! Thank you, UAlbany, your culture of diversity and freedom has encouraged many students to see a bigger world!

Without exaggeration, I still miss everything in UAlbany badly and think about my time there every day since I left. I know I must move on. But I will never forget  these two lessons from my study abroad experience in the USA:

  1. People are more generous than you think.
  2. Wherever you go, be a kind & good person.

I have received so much help from people in Albany. I must pass it on to whoever needs help in the future.

See you, NY! All the farewells now is for meeting again in the future!

See you, UAlbany! We’ve come a long way from where we began, and I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again!

My dear friends, the world is big, but it is within reach, as long as you are determined to chase after your dream. We are in our best age, but time is short. Youth will pass quickly like one semester in college. You’ll never know what will happen if you do not try. As last, I want to give you one sentence: Dream big, Dream hard. Put 100% into it even if the chances are slim!

As Jade’s UAlbany Project MyStory supervisor, I want to thank her for her commitment to “paying it forward” – to show the kindness that has been shown to her. Thank you Jade, not only for sharing your UAlbany story with so many people, but for also sharing your time with children from the community and for helping to make UAlbany even more special. Best wishes on the road ahead. You will always have a home here.
